Today we will review our favorites among blonding techniques - AirTouch, Total Blonde, Brazilian Balayage and Highlighting (Babylights included), talk about each of the techniques separately and discuss their impact on hair health.
AirTouch
Let's start with one of the most advanced techniques - AirTouch. AirTouch is a technique created by Vladimir Sarbashev that uses a blow dryer to separate previously lightened or weaker hair strands during coloring. This creates a smooth, soft color gradient.
It is one of the healthiest techniques because it avoids overlapping lightener. This ensures that the hair is not oversaturated and you get healthy hair that needs less frequent touch-ups.
The main "secret" of AirTouch is its predictability and reliability. Working with a hairdryer virtually eliminates the risk of spots or uneven tones, which can often occur with more "freehand" techniques.

Total Blonde in Champagne Balayage
Balayage is a technique that uses direct color application with a brush, which makes the color more natural - without strict transition lines. The tone seems to dissolve into the rest of the hair, creating a smooth gradient look that emphasizes the volume and depth of your hairstyle. The result is a fresh look that feels natural.
It is a more demanding technique, as the stylist decides where, how and how much color to apply. The goal is to recreate natural gradient transitions, and naturalize the look. A brush with soft edges is used to apply the color (to avoid specific boundaries of each strand, unlike highlights).
The main advantage of balayage is its appearance. A quality balayage is a luxurious but subtle look that will suit both an elegant appearance and a casual look. Also, the low-maintenance care is another plus - because of the naturalness and lack of delineation of the treated strands, your hair will look great both immediately after balayage and months later. Health - since the color is applied directly to the hair and not the scalp, you are less exposed to the chemicals.
Dimensional Balayage Highlights
Hair highlighting is a lightening technique where only individual strands are lightened, creating deep transitions and natural color shades. Unlike the Total Blonde technique (where the entire hair is dyed), Highlights leave the natural color in place and the dyed strands only create an overall lighter effect.
For regular highlights, touch-ups are needed every 6-10 weeks. For AirTouch highlights, every 8-12 weeks or less often. These are approximate numbers and depend on hair thickness, texture and growth rate.
